After a recent game update, everything went down the drain, as usual, so I had to look for a solution to the Script Extender update issue. For me, Script Extender was loading endlessly with the message "fetching manifest" I tried absolutely everything I could find online and on forums for over two months, but this method was the only one that worked.
User ***gavinlam ***on https://github.com/Norbyte/bg3se/issues/118 was the one who found the solution I used. All that was required was to download the files from https://bg3se-updates.norbyte.dev/Channels/Release/ManualInstall.zip and place them both in the bin folder. I'm providing the links in case an update is released and I don't upload the new files, or if something goes wrong, so you know where to look. I'm not a programmer, I'm just a user, and this just works.
Again, the steps for the manual update are:
*1. Download the archive.

Place both DWrite.dll and libprotobuf-lite.dll files in the bin folder and replace them.

Launch the game and verify that the problem is gone.
